This year has been somewhat of a whirl wind ride for us at E-Motion with our transition from a showroom to retail shop on Cricklade road, the addition of our first employees and the expansion of our range.
We’re extremely pleased with everything we’ve archived and we’re looking forward to see what 2012 has in store (no pun intended) for us. We have a slew of plans for 2012 including some exciting events, demo days and special shopping events.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everybody who’s helped out and supported us this year, especially during our transition to the new shop. Thank you to our customers for your continued support and custom throughout the year.
We’d like to wish all of our customers & friends a very merry christmas and happy new year!
This post is part of our EuroBike series. We ventured across to EuroBike 2011 specifically to check out the latest and greatest offerings in the electric bike world.
On arriving at the Messe Friedrichshafen exhibition centre straight away we we’re presented with the Smart (Yes the car company!) ebike on the back of a Smart car none the less.
The Smart ebike has been designed in partnership with electric bike specialist Grace and boasts a lightweight aluminium frame, 3 speed hub gear sytems and a 250W motor powered by a 400Wh lithium-ion battery.
Regeneration is a key feature on the bike, allowing you to input power back into the battery just by riding and using brake energy from the Magura MT4 disc brakes. The Smart bike also features an integrated USB port allowing riders to charger their mobile phones. This is also paves the way for a possible mobile application that could act as a bike computer/control system for the bike.
Unfortunately (and much to my disappointment) we were unable to take the Smart ebike for a test ride at EuroBike but we can assure you it looked fantastic and seemed to have a great reception from everybody who laid eyes on it! Its certainly a very impressive and refreshing electric bike, in terms of both design and specification.
We understand that the Smart ebike is due to arrive in the UK in the first half of 2012 but we don’t yet have any information on pricing.
On Saturday 2nd July 2011, we attended Swindon’s Bicycle Carnival at Lydiard Park. The Bicycle Carnival is an event arranged by CTC and Swindon Borough Council aimed at getting people out on their bikes, dressing up and having fun! The Swindon Advertiser has labelled the event as ‘a huge success’!
Our selection of demo bikes on the day included the GoCycle, Wisper 905se Sport, Raleigh Leeds and more from iZip, Powabyke and Juicy Bikes. We got a great response from everyone on the day especially all our first time riders and one gentleman even said he found the ride ‘as addictive as alcohol’, we just hope he doesn’t mix the two! It was fantastic to see both younger and older people enjoying our electric bikes, especially when we had entire families taking the bikes for a spin!
Thanks to everyone that came out on Saturday (including those who helped out through out the day)!
On Wednesday 22nd June 2011 we’ll be attending the Green Transport Event in Temple Quay Square, Bristol. It’s on from 12-2pm so why not come along in your lunch break and test out some of our electric bikes!
